Hello, I'm Beatriz
I'm a project manager. I'm a parent. An expat living in Baixa, Portugal.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The early months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that worked for us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt steady.
Why I Built QuietBrookGarden
Most information online fell into corporate relocation advice or shallow tourism materials. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Portugal.
